    Figured it out. Somehow (human error!) my connection was set to the wrong list; a list this email was already subscribed to.

    I tested signing up for a list and my email was not added. My email address already is subscribed to another list but did not get added to the list I signed up for. I looked at the history (screen shot) for the sign-up and it should have been successful: This email address already exists...

    I'm fine with not adding the custom fields. I was able to add those and it worked. The field I'm having difficulty with is STATE and that is not a custom field.

    I figured it out. Looks like my password manager had a space after my email address causing it not to be recognized.
