Hi,

I have created a workflow where once triggered the particular file in a google drive folder is converted into “Share anyone with the link” and then move the file from one folder to another folder. And further more steps in the workflow. All the other steps like rename the file, change it to anyone with the link and other action are working and executing but move file action is failing. I have attached the screenshot. Getting an error 403 “increasing the number of parents in not allowed”. What am I doing wrong? Please guide.

Hello @Gaurav

Thank you for sharing the details and the screenshot.

The error message you're encountering — "increasing the number of parents is not allowed" — typically indicates a permission-related issue when attempting to move a file in Google Drive.

Could you please confirm if you have the necessary permissions to perform the Move File action?

To move a file within Google Drive, the following permissions are required:
  • Editor access to the file you're trying to move
  • Editor or Content Manager access to the destination folder
  • If the file is located in a Shared Drive, you must have Manager access to that Shared Drive
Please verify these permissions and let us know. We're here to assist further based on what you find.

The folder is not located in a shared drive.

But the permission of “Editor” is already given to the person for both folders “source folder” & “destination folder” for moving the file. The person moving the file is [email protected].

Screenshot attached.

Source Folder: Generation Meter OEM Test Report, Owner: [email protected]
Destination Folder: Solar Rooftop Projects, Owner: [email protected]
Person Moving the folder: [email protected] (he has been given the permission of editor for both the folders)

As [email protected] has not been given the access to the source folder, so is it because of that the person moving the file from the source folder is not able to move to the destination folder?
