Optional fields on forms misaligning data in google sheet

What do we need to add to connect in order to avoid misaligned data with optional fields on a form? I tried {{NULL}} but then it added the word NULL on that field. Is it {{skip}} is it {{blank}}? What can I use to keep that from happening?
