How can I remove the country code from a phone number?

I have U.S. phone numbers coming into a workflow that sometimes have the country code (1XXXXXXXXXX) and sometimes don't (XXXXXXXXXX). For the next steps in the workflow, I need to remove the country code if it's included. Is there a version of the truncate function that will isolate the last 10 characters of a string or another good way to accomplish this?
