I have been previously been able to post as a bot using the Slack legacy integration

i.e. this works fine

However, using the new Slack integration with the "bot" token type I am no longer able to post to this channel

Is this a bug or is it only possible to post as a bot to public channels with the new Slack integration?

Hey @jonbstrong

We checked over your query and tested the "Send Channel Message(Without Image)" and it is working fine. It seems like you are using the private channel to pass the message with the bot token type.

But if you want to send messages on a private channel, then you have to use the user token type while connecting to Slack.

Here is the Slack Authorization Tokens documentation where you can check how and on which action event type, you can use "bot" or "user" token type - https://forum.pabbly.com/threads/slack-authorization-tokens.1562/

Right, so as I described, previously with the legacy integration I was able to post bot messages to private channels.

So it looks as though the new integration is more limited - if that's the way it's supposed to work, fine!

Hey @jonbstrong

We looked into the slack API and found that if you haven't invited the bot to the channel, then a bot can't post in a private channel. If it's not a member - you need to invite it to the channel like you would a person.

Besides, for more information and to understand the process please check out the following recorded video.
