Reddit posting text format

What format of the text that is submitted to reddit on the reddit app.

The reddit api asks for raw markdown but when adding text in this format, it is not formatted on the resulting reddit post.

i am looking to create a schedule of posts so need to know how the text when posted is formatted so i can format the text beforehand.
