I'm building a workflow connecting Instantly to Beehiiv. I want the automation to pull the email address of anyone who has opened my email in instantly, and also exclude anyone who has unsubscribed in instantly. Next I want to change the Beehiiv status of the people who opened to Active. How do I do this?

Hi @ericrardin,

It’s not possible to directly exclude people who have unsubscribed from triggering the ‘Email Opened’ trigger step. So your workflow will trigger when someone opens your email, even if they have unsubscribed.

So, you can set up your workflow in this manner: The workflow will trigger when an email is opened, then we will search for the same email address in Beehiiv using the ‘Get Subscription by Email’ action step and update the status of that subscription to ‘Active’ using the ‘Update Subscription’ action step.

Here, we are assuming that the people opening the email already have a subscription in your Beehiiv account. If that’s not the case, you would need to add a Router to your workflow, which will create a new subscriber if they don’t already exist in your Beehiiv account. We can set up the route for you—just let us know.

You can set up a separate workflow with ‘Lead Unsubscribed’ as the trigger event. This workflow will run when a lead unsubscribes from your email. You can then change the status of the subscriber in Beehiiv to whatever you want using the same steps you used in Workflow 1.
