Responsive Settings for Mobile

Status: Closed Β· Asked by H Brown on Β· 0 views

H Brown β€” Question Β·
The default behaviour on mobile seems very strange. Three column sections are NOT stacking. Two column sections ARE stacking but are not aligning center or stretching to full width.

Am I missing something? There seems to be no way to control responsive behaviour as far as I can see.

Also, space between columns default is 30px but when they stack for mobile there is no gap.

Hi - apologies for the crappy mobile screenshot but hopefully you can see what I mean. Basically, columns should stack (and ideally also be centered full width), on mobile.

Hello there,

It seems you are referring to the email template received on your mobile from Pabbly Email Marketing. Can you confirm which device and application you are viewing the email on?

Also, can you try a different application and device as well and see if you see the same formatting in that device and in that application as well?

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Adeel - it was on an iPhone 15 Pro. It renders fine in Apple Mail desktop. I'll see if I can find someone with an Android phone to check that also.

Another issue: you set your logo to be 50% width on desktop inside a three column section - all looks good. However, because there is no separate responsive setting controls, when that section stacks on mobile the logo is 50% width of the entire screen which makes it massive.

Ok - I can confirm that Android renders exactly the same as on iPhone. Regarding the logo issue above, in fact it is the mobile preview that is incorrect. Please see screenshots:

Hi - sure. The template is called: "Visual Builder Test".

Hello there,

Can you also confirm to which email address you sent the email to for testing, as every Email Service Provider like Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc handles email content differently, so we can test the email template for mobile view in the same environment.

Hi - tests are sent to Gmail. One using a Google Workspace Gmail address and one using a free Gmail address.

Do you want the mobile view to be similar to the desktop view?image.png

Hi Arshil,

No definitely not trying to retain desktop view on mobile. There very few cases where you want 2 or more columns on a mobile email because everything gets crushed and text wraps into crazy thin and tall appearance.

Any column section of 2 columns or more should stack to 1 column by default.

This would be a good approach I think:

1. All column sections of 2 or more columns should stack to 1 column 100% width on mobile by default. There are edge cases of course such as icon lists etc so see point 3.

2. Spacing between columns should be respected when the column stacks (column-gap should change to row-gap).

3. For any edge case where the user specifically wants to retain the columns on mobile, you could add a toggle in the section layout settings: "Preserve columns on mobile", which would be awesome.
