Terapeut Online — Question ·
I've added a Messenger step in a workflow. I've got page ID correctly and trying to send to myself, so added my user ID, but the Messenger step returns that this user doesn't exist. What have I missed?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing the details.

Could you please let us know where you obtained the Recipient ID (10159505039800739) that you have entered in the Messenger action?

As mentioned in the help text below the Recipient field, the Recipient ID should be obtained from the “New Message Sent to Page” trigger step and mapped from the relevant field there.

Please check whether you are using the Recipient/Sender ID received from that trigger rather than manually entering your Facebook user ID.

Once you confirm the source of the ID, we can guide you further.

So I need to create a separate workflow with that trigger in order to obtain it? I followed FB's instructions, went to Apps and Websites in settings and retrieved it there.

I can't find a New Message Sent to Page action. How does this work?

Terapeut Online — Reply ·

I don't want to reply, I want to send.

What I need to achieve is to send a direct message to me as a notification after a post in this workflow. Messenger och Whatsapp. I tried adding Whatsapp but failed. If needed, I'll try again. Unless it's possible to configure the Messenger step to do this?

Hello,

Here’s what I would recommend trying:

Please create a one-time separate workflow with the “New Message Received” trigger for Facebook Messenger. Then, from your personal Messenger account, send a message to the Facebook Page connected to Pabbly.

This should trigger the workflow and provide the relevant Recipient ID in the response data, where you will be the recipient.

You can then copy that Recipient ID and manually use it in your current workflow’s Recipient field.

I’m not sure whether the ID you obtained by following Facebook’s instructions is the current Messenger Recipient ID required by Pabbly, which could be why you’re receiving the “user doesn't exist” error.

Please try this approach and let me know how it goes.

I'm guessing this isn't working because the message type is set to RESPONSE. Any way to circumvent this so that this step can also initiate a message?

Not urgent to solve this, ChatGPT helped me setup Whatsapp. But it would be very useful to have a simpler messaging setup than all the steps required for Whatsapp.

Hello,

Thank you for your patience.

We checked the workflow execution and identified the issue.

In the Facebook Messenger – New Message Received trigger, there are two different IDs:

  • Sender ID – This is the ID of the person who sent the message to the Page.

  • Recipient ID – This is the ID of your Facebook Page.

For the Send Message action, the Sender ID needs to be mapped to the Recipient field, as the message needs to be sent back to the user who contacted the Page.

Please configure the mapping as follows:

New Message Received → Sender → ID
Send Message → Recipient → ID

Please do not map the Recipient ID from the trigger, as that represents the Facebook Page ID. Using the Page ID as the recipient results in the Facebook error “(#100) No matching user found.”

We also tested the Send Message action using the correct Sender ID, and Facebook successfully accepted the request and returned a message ID.

Please try the above mapping in your workflow and let us know if you face any further issues.
