Import Existing Stripe Subscriptions?

Hello Pabbly Community:

I mentioned in another thread our charity, PIFster the Pay It Forward charity, is working on transitioning away from proprietary web and mobile apps, and creating the core functionality needed for our charity using Pabbly products ( and perhaps a tiny amount of custom Javascript and / or PHP? ) to recreate the core functionality of our charity app. My question is this: we have existing customers with Stripe Subscriptions. Is there a way to access those subscriptions? Or will I need to somehow entice all of our users to migrate over and re-enter their payment info, etc?

And if I do that, I suspect I'll have to somehow cancel their old subscriptions, right?

Does anybody have experience doing anything similar?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your prompt response, and I apologize for the repeated question. I'll continue it here (with your response quoted) in case it helps anybody else. And in the future, I'll try to keep my questions in one spot. 😅

Also, you can import your existing Stripe donor list and manage them using Pabbly Subscription Billing. However, you will need to manually assign subscriptions/plans to the imported customers.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Import Customers – Use the "Import from Stripe" option in Pabbly Subscription Billing to bring all customers from Stripe, along with their details, into your account. Their card information will also be imported.

  2. Create Product and Plan – Set up a product and plan in Pabbly Subscription Billing to match your existing subscriptions.

  3. Create Subscriptions – Once customers are imported and the product/plan is set up, use the "Create Subscription" option to manually assign subscriptions. Set the start date to align with their next billing cycle to maintain continuity.

So this is wonderful news, thank you. I have just a few more questions:
  1. If I manually assign a product and plan in Pabbly Payment, will the donors be charged twice going forward? Once here and once in the original app?
  2. If so, once I've assigned them to a payment plan in Pabbly, what is the best way to cancel their old pre-existing plan?
The more I ruminate on this, the more I'd like to dive in and make this transition. Your user portal is FAR superior to anything we provide in our proprietary app, and your affiliate functionality I think could also be used to feature-match a referral system we have in the app, but which is rarely used. It might be easier and more utilized using your system.

Hello @conleec,

In Pabbly Subscription Billing, once you assign customers to a plan and their payment gateway is Stripe, payments will be automatically deducted, as Stripe Auto Charge is supported in Pabbly Subscription Billing. Additionally, when you connect your Stripe account with Pabbly Subscription Billing, you will set up webhook inside Stripe for specific events, preventing duplicate charges.

For better understanding, please refer to this guide:

If you are using another platform alongside Pabbly Subscription Billing to manage customer subscriptions, you will need to cancel their existing subscription in that platform. Otherwise, customers might be charged twice or face confusion regarding their billing.

We would also like to invite you to a demo call to discuss your use case in detail and provide insights on how Pabbly Subscription Billing can best meet your needs. Let us know if you'd like to schedule a session! 🚀

Thank you Soumya,

I've scheduled a Google meet with Mukesh on Tuesday evening at 9:30 pm, Pacific time. You're welcome to join if you'd like. I'd really love to understand this process better so I can transition my charity to your software.
